Gallery – The Milky Way
Over the years I have enjoyed taking many photographs of the Milky Way, wide field photographs often incorporating landscape or foreground elements. Recent advances in technology have allowed me to take this a step further, producing nightscape astrophotography I have been very happy with.
Here is a small selection of some photographs of the Milky Way, our galaxy. Most are wide field and include silhouettes of foreground objects, these days called “Nightscapes”. I like using silhouettes to give a sense of scale, place and uniqueness to the photographs, and to make them more artistically appealing. The sharp defined edges of silhouettes appeals to me more than moonlit nightscapes. I started taking photographs like these in 1998, and introducing foreground objects in 2007.
